About HyzerStack

There is a lot being built around disc golf that is surprisingly hard to find.

Someone starts a small disc brand, opens a pro shop, builds an app, dyes discs, makes a training tool, or turns some other idea into a business. You might see it once in a Facebook group, on Reddit, or in an Instagram or Facebook ad, and then never come across it again.

HyzerStack is my attempt to put more of it in one place.

It is a directory of the businesses, brands, products, apps, services, media, and other things people are building around disc golf. You can use it to find something you already know about, but the more interesting part to me is discovering something you had no idea existed.

Why I built it

Years ago, r/discgolf maintained a giant master list of disc golf websites. It grew to hundreds of links and eventually became too large for a Reddit post. That list is actually where I got the first group of retailers I used when I was building Try Discs.

So I’ve been benefiting from some version of this idea since pretty much the beginning. HyzerStack is my attempt to give it a better home.

I’m Azeem. I run Try Discs and Disc Analyzer, and that work has led me to a lot of corners of disc golf I probably would not have found otherwise.

I’m constantly finding businesses while researching something for Try Discs, scrolling through Facebook groups or Reddit, seeing ads on Instagram and Facebook, talking to people in disc golf, or following random links online. I still regularly come across things that have been around for years and somehow never crossed my radar.

What gets listed

The basic rule is that there should be something durable behind it.

That includes businesses, brands, products, publications, and services built meaningfully around disc golf: software, technology, manufacturers, retailers, gear, custom discs and dyes, media, training, events, course services, and plenty of things that do not fit perfectly into one category.

Individual courses, local clubs and leagues, players, one-off tournaments, general social groups, and personal hobby projects usually are not included.

There will be edge cases. I’m not trying to create a perfect definition of a disc golf business. I’m trying to make the directory useful.

How HyzerStack works

Everything is reviewed before it goes live. Some listings come from things I find myself and others come from submissions or suggestions.

The date on a listing is the date it was added to HyzerStack. I do not change dates later to make something look new.

The New & Notable section is curated by me. New additions usually get priority, but I may also bring back something older because I think it is interesting or worth seeing. There are no votes or rankings deciding what appears there.

When a business shuts down, I would rather keep a record of it than delete it. Closed listings are moved out of the normal directory and, when possible, kept with some context and an archived version of the website.

A note about my businesses

As mentioned above, I run Try Discs and Disc Analyzer. Both are listed here.

My brother Uzair runs Disc Golf Swag, which is also listed. I encouraged him to start it, but I do not have any ownership or financial stake in the business.

HyzerStack is my site and I curate it. I may feature something I am working on, just as I may feature another business because I think it is interesting. I just want to be clear when I have a connection to something.

If HyzerStack eventually has paid sponsorships or promoted placements, anything paid will be clearly labeled.
